Be The Match

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - SaludDiagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2009, Tammy has undergone several chemotherapy treatments. After a stem-cell transplant in 2012, she was in remission for a few months. Unfortunately, the cancer progressed. Tammy and her husband, David, remain hopeful as she undergoes more chemotherapy. Once in remission, Tammy will undergo a second stem-cell transplant. Her doctors have been searching the registry, but there is still no match for her. Tammy, like so many, is hoping more people will register to become donors for a second chance at life. Be The Match Registry, a non-for-profit that pairs donors with patients in need of a transplant, will host a registry on Sunday, Oct. 13th at the Berwyn Lodge #839, 6836 W. Cermak Rd., from 2p.m. to 5p.m. To join, you only need to be between the ages of 18 and 44, be willing to donate to any patient in need and meet the health guidelines.
