Hernandez, Cicero President Host Workshop for Temporary Drivers Licenses

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsTown President Larry Dominick and State Rep. Lisa Hernandez will co-host a Temporary Drivers License Workshop Training for the public this Saturday October 19 at the Town of Cicero Community Center, 2250 S. 49th Ave., between 10 am and 2 pm.

The workshop will help undocumented residents apply for Temporary Drivers Licenses under the new State of Illinois Program that begins Dec. 1, 2013. The program is intended to help improve safety and reduce insurance costs by requiring Temporary Drivers to obtain both drivers training and insurance before receiving the temporary licenses.

Early this year, the Illinois General Assembly approved the new law, which enables undocumented immigrants in Illinois to get temporary visitor driver’s licenses (TVDLs). Illinois is the fourth state to authorize undocumented immigrants to drive legally. The new program begins Dec. 1, 2013. For more information, call Rep. Hernandez’s office at 708-222-5240, visit her web site at www.StateRepHernandez.com or visit her office at 3948 W. 26th Street in Chicago.
