Casa de Luz Dramatizes the Nativity Story

Last Sunday, Willow Creek Community Church’s Casa de Luz welcomed families to their fourth annual Christmas pageant at 67 E. Algonquin Rd. in South Barrington, IL. The richness of the nativity story came alive through the infusion of Latin American traditions.

The Christmas pageant happened in the church’s exquisite Lake Auditorium. Actors, dressed in colorful garb, comically dramatized the shepherds and angels eager anticipation of the birth of baby Jesus. It also served as a reminder to the community to keep faith in the face of doubt.

“We see all year convicting many Hispanic families with extreme difficulties and hopelessness. Through this work, we provide much more than a bit of wholesome entertainment,” Casa de Luz pastor Juan Guillen said. “We welcome you with open arms on a campus with a large center…full of possibilities to meet [the community’s] practical needs and to enable them to overcome the cycle of poverty. Christmas hope that’s true!”
