On Friday January 217, State Senator Martin Sandoval celebrated his 50th birthday with a handful of senate democrats at the ‘Cinco Estrellas Restaurant’ at 2908 W. 59th Street.

“I have a lot of respect for my colleagues,” Sandoval said. “It means the world to me that they were able to make time to join me on this momentous day.”

President of the Senate, John Cullerton (D-6) gave a brief summary of senator’s public service record.

“This man has more experience as a public servant than all of us combined,” Cullerton said. “Fifteen years in the Federal Government as a procurement officer for the EPA, three years as a Commissioner for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District and he is currently serving his tenth year as a State Senator.”

Mariachi Los Palmeros were on hand to sing the traditional Mexican song ‘Las Mañanitas,’ followed by the classic ‘Happy Birthday’ song.

“I may be fifty but I don’t feel a day over 30,” Sandoval said.
