State Senator William Delgado (D-Chicago) recently released a statement regarding drugstore chain CVS’s announcement that it will stop the sale of cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco by October 1, 2014.

Senator Delgado applauded CVS’s decision to end the sale of tobacco products at its stores throughout the country.

“I stand behind CVS’s position of focusing on the health of its customers, and I see no better way than ending the sale of tobacco products,” Delgado said. “I would hope other companies across the country would follow suit and stop contributing to the unhealthy habit of smoking.”

Officials from CVS have stated that this move will better help them work with doctors, hospitals and other care providers to improve their customers’ health.
