Upcoming Lecture Series Explores Jewish Experience

Four talks on “Special Moments in Jewish History” will be offered at B’nai Yehuda Beth Sholom, 1424 West 183 Street, Homewood, IL on March 21, March 23, April 6, and April 13 will feature guest speakers reflecting on Jewish identity.

The first talk on Friday, March 21, will be presented during the Friday night service, which starts at 7:30 pm. The speaker will be Lucyna Migala who, will offer a perspective on the “Revival of Interest in Jewish Culture in Modern Poland.”

The second talk on Sunday, March 23 at 1:30 pm, Michael Traison, a well-known Jewish attorney who practices in Chicago, Warsaw, and Herzliya, Israel, will also discuss modern Jewish-Polish relations. He has visited Poland regularly since 1992.

The third talk on Sunday, April 6, 1:30 pm will feature Rabbi Victor Mirelman, whose presentation will focus on the “Birth and Growth of Early Sephardic Communities in the New World”

The final talk on Sunday, April 13, 1:30 pm will conclude with Dr. Rachel Havrelock and a discussion of “Kings, Queens, Prophets, and Priests: Politics in Ancient Judah and Israel.”

This series is open to the public at no charge and is funded through a mini-grant from the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. Light refreshments will be served.
