‘Continuum’ a Solo Exhibition by Chicago Artist

Prospectus Art Gallery cordially invites you to a solo exhibition by Chicago artist Ginny Sykes titled “CONTINUUM,” a selection of her work from 1993–2013. The opportunity to look back over twenty years of artistic production is a process of finding connecting threads between the disparate parts of Ginny Sykes’s practice. Sykes is an interdisciplinary artist whose work includes painting, drawing, performance, installation, and video. Her current work explores archetypal images that mix abstraction with anthropomorphic form, drawing on Jung’s theories of creativity and the collective unconscious.

Sykes has completed over 40 public art works, including On the Wings of Water at O’Hare airport. She has taught in the Museum and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, as an Illinois Arts Council Roster Artist, at Lill Street Art Center, and in various community arts programs. Sykes received her BFA from Washington University, St. Louis, studied classical art at the Studio Cecil-Graves in Florence, Italy, and has an MA in Women Studies and Gender Studies from Loyola University, Chicago.

Please join us for the grand reception at Prospectus in the Pilsen neighborhood, the heart of today’s Mexican Renaissance. Free admission, Parking will be available. Opening reception will take place Friday, May 9th from 5p.m., to 10p.m.
