‘A Todo Corazón’

Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Health

Childhood obesity has more than tripled over the past three decades in the United States. In Chicago, obesity rates are higher than the national average. Recent data collected by Chicago Public Schools found one in five CPS kindergartners is obese and that 52 percent of children in South Lawndale are overweight or obese. To help educate and fight this epidemic, the American Heart Association is sponsoring a FREE event this Saturday, June 21st., A Todo Corazón, to promote healthy living. The American Heart Association will host the event at Norwegian American Hospital, 1044 N. Francisco Ave., from 10a.m., to 2p.m. The event will provide attendees with educational resources that will offer valuable tips to help improve a family’s heart health, including health screenings, CPR training, nutrition presentations and fun physical activities for children.
