Working with Latino boys to prevent violence

Jovenes con Palabra (Young Men of Their Word) is Mujeres’ new after school program for at-risk boys aged 12-18 years old focusing on violence prevention, leadership, and respectful relationships. After hearing feedback from our clients about the need to engage boys, Mujeres launched a program based on Joven Noble, a youth development curriculum designed specifically for Latinos. Participants are paired with Latino mentors that have faced similar challenges and then go on to become peer mentors themselves. A mother-son component provides multi-generational learning to strengthen family bonds. If you are interested in learning more about the program, please contact Maritza Rocha, the Director of the Youth Programs, at 773.890.7676.
