Dear Cicero Resident

Cicero Town President Larry Dominick is pleased to announce that the Cook County Board of Review will be accepting applications for property tax appeals. The Board of Review is allowing Cicero Township to be open for this appeals process from August 4, 2014 until September 2, 2014.

Appealing the assessed value of your home is an easy way to lower your taxes, if your property qualifies. The Town of Cicero can help you to complete the appeal of your property tax assessments and answer any questions you may have about the process. We can also help with exemptions that you may be entitled to receive. You can obtain the necessary paperwork, or bring your documentation to begin the appeal process on your property assessment to my office at Cicero Town Hall, 4949 W. Cermak Road, on the 2nd Floor.

Please understand that when you file an appeal, you are appealing the assessed value of your home, not your tax bill.

Also, and especially for seniors, if you file an appeal, IT COULD AFFECT your senior freeze exemption. Your tax bill might ultimately increase as a result of an appeal.

BEFORE YOU APPLY, please contact our office to discuss your situation before you file to ensure you receive the best possible options for your property circumstances.

The Town of Cicero Assessor’s office has a greater than 80 percent success rate when we assist the homeowner with their appeal. We are here to help! Please call us to schedule an appointment, at 708-656-3600, ext. 225, 226, and 228.

Sincerely,

Emilio “Emo” Cundari
Assessor, Town of Cicero
