Young Chicago Chefs Showcase Culinary Skills

Thirty young chefs, who were trained through Chicago’s After School Matters/Casa Central’s Culinary Apprenticeship, prepared and served Latin-inspired appetizers as their final presentation on Friday, Aug. 1st at Los Nuevos Chefs Del Sabor. The young chefs demonstrated what they learned and showcased their talents by presenting various appetizers to over 90 guests. The “Mi Cocina” (My Kitchen) Program, was hosted in partnership with Chicago’s After School Matters, Casa Central, and St. Augustine College Culinary Program. The culinary apprentices learned to create 30 Latin dishes. In addition, students volunteered at Feed My Starving Children.
