In an effort to increase Latino voters, the Illinois Latino Agenda hosted Tu Voz Marca la Diferencia: a “Get Out the Vote” Community Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 21st to discuss the power of the Latino vote in this upcoming election. Headlined by Univision national radio host Tsi-tsi-ki Felix and the Illinois Latino Agenda, the largest coalition of Latino-led nonprofits in the state, the forum offered an evening of discussion on key races in the 2014 midterm election, early voting, and rights at the polling place. At the forum, held at ASPIRA Haugan Middle School, 3729 W. Leland Ave., residents were encouraged to fulfill their civic duty. The evening featured a panel discussion led by prominent nonprofit leaders from the Illinois Latino Agenda that touched upon immigration, education, jobs and the economy, and budget priorities. With more than 777,000 eligible, voting-age residents, the Illinois Latino Agenda reminded young voters they can make a difference in the outcome of this year’s midterm elections.
