Representative Luis Gutiérez held a community orientation last weekend to educate immigrants who may qualify for relief under the executive actions President Obama announced related to immigration and protection from deportation. Rep. Gutiérrez pledged to make Chicago a model community for orienting people and is currently working with Mayor Emanuel and other public officials to get the community ready for the application process in 2015. Gutiérrez’s community orientation took place at Rebaño Church, 2435 W. Division on Saturday where one-on-one assistance was given to at least 500 participants who pre-registered.
