Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) will initiate a community planning process to design the future home of the Broadway Youth Center (BYC) on the second floor of HBHC’s main facility at 4025 N. Sheridan Road. The BYC currently operates within a shared space of the Wellington Avenue United Church of Christ on 615 W. Wellington Avenue. HBHC officials made the announcement at the organization’s 2015 Annual Meeting commemorating 40 years of community service and the outlining the future of the organization. For the past decade, the BYC has provided an array of vital services for LGBTQ and homeless youth (ages 12-24), including day respite, food, group services, individual counseling, HIV/STI screening and treatment, laundry and storage assistance, case management, linkage to care, tutoring, a GED program and referrals to other needed services.
