The Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council (ChicagoMSDC) has named ComEd the “Corporation of the Year,” honoring the company for its continued efforts to develop and expand relationships with local minority and women-owned businesses. This highly coveted award is presented in recognition of a company’s leadership and outstanding accomplishments in the area of business diversity. In 2014, ComEd spent $415 million with diverse suppliers, a $100 million increase over 2013. As part of the Smart Grid Law, ComEd also committed to increasing opportunities for diversity certified suppliers by 15 percent over a ten year period, representing millions in additional diversity certified spending every year.

This is the second consecutive year ComEd has been recognized by ChicagoMSDC. Last year the company received its Transformational Leadership Award. Additionally, ComEd’s sister utilities, BGE in Baltimore and PECO in Philadelphia, were also recognized earlier this year with the “Corporation of the Year Award” by the Capital Region Minority Supplier Diversity Council and Eastern Minority Supplier Diversity Council.
