Emanuel Announces Inaugural Events

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the schedule for the upcoming inauguration weekend. The inaugural weekend will kick off with a Day of Service on Saturday, May 16, at locations in all 50 wards. On Sunday, May 17, the City and Chicago Park District will launch the third annual “Night Out In The Parks” arts programming in parks across the city. A full schedule of theatre, dance and other events will be available on the inauguration website this week.

The inauguration, which includes the swearing in of the Mayor, City Clerk Susana Mendoza, City Treasurer Kurt Summers and all 50 members of the City Council, will be held at The Chicago Theatre, 175 North State Street, at 10:30 am on Monday, May 18. Tickets are available to the public on the inauguration website. Following the swearing in, Mayor Emanuel and his wife, Amy Rule, will host a public open house from 2-4 pm at his office in City Hall, 121 N. LaSalle St., on the 5th Floor.
