Charity Outreach Program Brings Hope to Orphans in the Dominican

Armed with a mission to bring the gift of sports to kids in need across the globe, Northbrook-based youth charity Gear for Goals (G4G) recently boosted their efforts in Latin America by connecting a business traveler and G4G supporter with a good cause. Offering friends of G4G the opportunity to combine a family vacation or business trip with the opportunity to do good, Gear for Goals’ Compassion Associate Program is leaning into a growing trend in traveling, “voluntourism,” offering supporters the chance to transform the lives of children during their travels. Leading the recent effort in Latin America was G4G Compassion Associate Larry Baum, a pharmaceutical executive who resides in Cary, IL, and his wife Thomasina Seah, who brought sports gear by arrangement with G4G to enthusiastic children at the Ninos de Cristo orphanage in La Romana during their recent trip to the Dominican Republic last month. For more information about becoming a G4G Compassion Associate or ways you can help, call 312-869-2031.
