State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, and members of the Latino Legislative Caucus were presented with the “Immigrant Champion Award” by the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) on Tuesday. “On behalf of the entire Latino caucus, it is an honor to accept this prestigious award in recognition of our work to craft legislative policy that helps foster a more immigrant-friendly Illinois,” Hernandez said. “During a time when our state faces numerous financial hardships, it is important that the voice of the Latino community resonates strongly throughout the Legislature, as we work to protect funding for critical programs that serve immigrant families throughout the state.”
