On Tuesday, Aug. 25th, the After School Matters’ Green Star at Little Village project revealed a stunning new bricolage mosaic to friends, family and community members in Little Village. The two-hour community event also featured a dance performance by the After School Matters Latin and Spanish Dance Ensemble, a group interactive demonstration led by Beyond the Ball, food for family and friends and a speaking program. Nearly 30 teens conceived, designed and installed the mosaic mural during their summer program with the guidance of instructors Miriam Engel and Michal Taylor. The program is run in partnership with Green Star Movement. You can see the mural at Ortiz de Dominguez Elementary School (3000 S. Lawndale) in Little Village.
