Currently, in Illinois there are over 1,000 Latinos on the organ transplant waiting list and that number continues to grow every day. Gift of Hope, Organ & Tissue Donor Network, carries out numerous efforts in the Hispanic community to dispel the misconceptions that persist regarding the topic of organ and tissue donation. Most recently, they are enlisting the support of non-profit organizations and community leaders to be part of United for Hope, an initiative that seeks to bring Latino leadership together to start and continue the conversation about organ and tissue donation among their members and constituents. Gift of Hope extends an open invitation to all organizations and community leaders in Chicago and surrounding areas to become part of United for Hope. This ongoing initiative strives to start an ongoing conversation about the urgent need for Latino donors in Chicago and surrounding areas so together we can continue providing hope and life for those who are most vulnerable.
