Hernandez to Host Free Kidney and Diabetes Screening

State Representative Lisa Hernandez, D-Cicero, is partnering with the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, State Rep. Michael Zalewski, D-Riverside, and State Sen. Steven Landek, D-Burbank, in hosting a free kidney and diabetes screening on Saturday, April 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MacNeal Hospital. “According to the National Kidney Foundation, 1 in 3 American adults is at risk for kidney disease,” Hernandez said. “However, taking simple preventative steps today can help avoid or minimize complicated health problems down the road.”

Hernandez is inviting all residents to attend her free kidney and diabetes screening event at MacNeal Hospital, located at 3249 S. Oak Park Ave. in Berwyn. The tests and screenings that doctors and nurses will be administering include blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, body mass index and waist circumference measurements, and if necessary urinalysis and blood tests. Doctors and nurses will discuss the results with patients. No appointment is necessary, but patients must be at least 18 years old. For more information please call Rep.
