Mackey Named Emergency Department Chairman of Medical Staff at Saint Anthony Hospital

Saint Anthony Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of Emergency Department Chairman Mark L. Mackey, M.D., a board-certified physician to its medical team. Dr. Mackey will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s Emergency Department and help serve all patients with emergency medical needs. “We are extremely pleased that Dr. Mackey has joined our medical staff,” said Guy A. Medaglia, Saint Anthony Hospital President and CEO. “He is a talented physician that will bring a wealth of knowledge to our Emergency Department. His experience and skills are a strong addition to our team.”

Dr. Mackey holds a Doctor of Medicine from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his pediatric internship at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital and emergency medicine residency at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. He is skilled in supporting focused health care improvement in emergency departments with extensive experience in reimbursement, technology and compliance. His professional accomplishments have been notable regionally and nationally, serving as a past president of the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Mackey contributed to areas of health care policy, medical economics, reimbursement and health care advocacy. As just one example, he provided leadership in a successful tort reform initiative and Illinois Department of Public Aid payment reforms. For his many contributions, Mackey was recognized by his peers with the Bill B. Smiley Meritorious Service Award from the ICEP, their highest honor, for significant contributions to emergency medicine in Illinois.
