On Saturday, June 11, residents in Roseland’s Maple Park neighborhood partnered with Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago (NHS) to revitalize their local community. This event was part of NeighborWorks Week (June 4-11), a week-long celebration in which thousands of volunteers come together to improve, strengthen and engage their communities. The Citi Foundation is NeighborWorks America’s national partner for NeighborWorks Week. The event in Maple Park was one of 10 events across the United States held on Saturday with Citi volunteers as a part of Citi’s flagship volunteer program, Global Community Day. Volunteers worked alongside local residents and community leaders to make a difference in their communities. NHS of Chicago’s Roseland Neighborhood Office and Citi employees helped residents beautify their homes by painting fences, mowing lawns, and landscaping. This event was vital to assist the many seniors on the block who don’t have the help needed to complete theses services on their own. The Maple Park United Methodist Church, located at 11705 S. Elizabeth, also participated in this community event.
