The Illinois Society for Respiratory Care (ISRC) held its 48th Annual Conference and Exhibition, where respiratory care practitioners and other healthcare providers gathered for three days of educational experiences, competitions, exhibits and networking. This year, St. Augustine College student Heidi Vargas, a respiratory student, won first prize in ISRC’s House of Delegates (HOD) Presentation Competition. The achievement will permit Vargas to represent ISRC in the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) conference and in the 62nd International Respiratory Convention & Exhibition in San Antonio, Texas, 2016. “We are proud of Heidi’s achievement in this prestigious competition. We also congratulate the staff in our Respiratory Therapy Department for creating the supportive educational environment to prepare Heidi for this endeavor,” stated Andrew C. Sund, Ph.D., President of St. Augustine College. This is the second year in a row that a St. Augustine Respiratory student has won this prestigious competition.
