Sones de México Ensemble Announces Fall Youth Lessons

Sones de México Ensemble, Chicago’s premiere Mexican folk music organization, continues to expand their youth guitar program, which debuted in 2015. Originally offered as a single Level 1 class in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, the cultural center of Chicago’s Mexican community, the program has expanded to include additional Level 2 & 3 classes in Pilsen as well as Level 1 and 2 classes in the north side Rogers Park neighborhood. Fall classes begin Saturday, September 3 in both locations and continue until November 19. Each class is one hour long and offered once a week on Saturdays. Classes are taught by Gonzalo Cordova, a founding member of the organization that started in 1994 as a response to a lack of exposure for traditional Mexican folk music.
