The Chicago Food Policy Action Council (CFPAC) will host its “13th Annual Chicago Food Policy Summit: From Survive to Thrive,” on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 9 AM to 5 PM at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive.  More than 300 local agriculture experts, elected officials, environmental justice authorities; emergency food providers; healthy food access and health care advocates; urban farmers; food workers; and students are expected to attend. The Chicago Food Policy Summit facilitates the development of responsible policies to improve access for Chicago residents to culturally appropriate, nutritionally sound, affordable, and fair food grown through environmentally sustainable practices.   The keynote address this year will be given by Amani Olugbala, assistant program director of Soul Fire, a New York-based organization committed to ending racism and injustice in the food systems. A $20 donation is requested from the public to attend the 13th Annual Chicago Food Policy Summit: From Survive to Thrive. However, scholarships are available for those with limited resources.
