State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, is teaming up with the Attorney General’s office, and the Comptroller’s office to help students prepare for life after college. She will be hosting a Managing Student Loan Debt and Finances Workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Morton College, located at 3801 S Central Ave in Cicero. “Preparing for life after college can be stressful, but there are steps you can take now to learn about managing your finances,” Hernandez said. “I encourage everyone to join me for this important workshop, as we’ll also be providing information about new protections put in place to make sure student borrowers aren’t taken advantage of by bad actors in the financial industry.”  The Attorney General’s office will be on hand to provide information on how to deal with student loan debt and about new state level protections for student borrowers. The Comptroller’s office will also be available to teach students about the importance of setting economic goals, maintaining a good credit standing and preparing for life after college. For more information or to RSVP, residents can visit Rep. Hernandez’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/StateRepLisaHernandez or call her office at 708-222-5240.
