Latino Victory Fund Endorses Alma Anaya and Aaron Ortiz

Latino Victory Fund endorsed Alma Anaya for Cook County Commissioner and Aaron Ortiz for Illinois State Representative. Millennial progressives with deep roots in Chicago, Anaya and Ortiz are challenging entrenched interests to make history in Illinois. If elected, Anaya would be the only Latina serving on the Cook County Commission and Ortiz would become the first Latino to represent the Majority-Latino House District 1.  Over two million Latinos call Illinois home, and their political power is beginning to be felt statewide. Illinois experienced the greatest increase in Latino voter participation between the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections. Yet, Latinos continue to be underrepresented in local and state offices. Latino Victory Fund seeks to reverse this trend. Last month, the organization endorsed Jesús “Chuy” García to replace Illinois’ only Latino member of Congress, immigration champion Luis V. Gutierrez, and Jesse Ruiz in his bid to become Illinois’ first Latino Attorney General. Latino Victory Fund will leverage enthusiasm around Anaya, Ortiz, García, and Ruiz to turn out voters in support of the other candidates on the Latino Slate.
