This Spring, Free Street welcomes the performance collective FEMelanin to present “Epic Tales from the Land of Melanin,” a joyful and participatory performance aimed at audiences ages 5 and up. Epic Tales is presented as part of Free Street’s In/House residency program, a project that supports the creation of new work by underrepresented artists in Chicago. A quest from learning self-defense sequences to battling hula hoop force fields, Epic Tales follows the adventures of 3 girls of color – warriors, explorers, and friends – as they take you on a funny and poignant journey to change the world.  Performances are Fridays at 6pm and Saturdays at 1:30pm and 3:30pm from May 11th to May 26th at Free Street Theater in Pulaski Park.  All Free Street production are free or Pay-What-You-Can at the door. To reserve a seat, you can purchase a ticket in advance at https://epictales.brownpaperticket.com.
