On May 6th, the National Institutes of Health will open national enrollment for the All of Us Research Program – a momentous effort to advance individualized prevention, treatment and care for people based on individual differences in lifestyle, environment and genetics. To mark the occasion, institutions taking part in the program in Chicago including the University of Illinois at Chicago, Northwestern Medicine, University of Chicago, Rush University Medical Center and NorthShore University HealthSystem, will host a Chicago launch event on Sunday, May 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Millennium Park’s Chase Promenade South. Zoraida Sambolin of NBC 5 Chicago News will serve as the emcee. Dr. Martha Daviglus is professor of medicine and a principal investigator on the All of Us program at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She will be available to discuss (in English of Spanish) why All of Us is important, especially for the Latino community, which is more likely to experience higher rates of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.
