Chicago Park District Announces Chicago Moves Day Return

The Chicago Park District announced the return of Chicago Moves Day, a citywide initiative that aims to connect Chicago residents to fitness and wellness opportunities across the city. More than 15 health and fitness providers and the Chicago Park District’s wellness department will offer a series of free workouts at Federal Plaza, located at 62 W. Adams St., from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The goal of Chicago Moves Day is to educate and motivate Chicagoans to adopt healthier lifestyles and help prevent and manage chronic diseases like obesity, tobacco use and cancer. The lunchtime event will feature free workout demonstrations, including Yoga, Pilates, Bootcamp, POUND, as well as fitness and health screenings, and nutrition and product sampling. Among the confirmed vendors are Zen Yoga Garage, Kitchfix, Core Chicago Pilates, RxBar, SWEAT, American Heart Association, Athleta, Urban Initiatives, Department of Public Health, Fitness Formula Clubs, and Advanced Health Chiropractic. As part of the program, all of the Chicago Park District’s 72 fitness centers will be available to Chicago residents for free on May 2.  The event will also launch the Park District’s summer programming series, which offers Chicago residents a variety of healthy lifestyle activities and programs.  For more information on the summer park programming opportunities, visit www.chicagoparkdistrict.com
