Students from throughout West Suburban Cook County will start the school year off on the right track – thanks to a new initiative between Triton College and West 40 Intermediate Service Center #2. Families are invited to attend the first-ever Backpack Giveback Resource Fair at Triton College on Saturday, Aug. 4th from 10 a.m. – noon. The event will be held on the outdoor mounds located on the west side of Triton’s campus, 2000 5th Ave., River Grove. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the Student Center Cafeteria (B Building). At the fair, students can receive a backpack filled with school supplies, free of charge. Backpacks and supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To help Triton and West 40 ISC serve as many families as possible, they are currently collecting backpacks and school supplies at collection boxes located throughout Triton College’s campus. Donation boxes are also set up at businesses and organizations throughout our communities including Menards stores in Melrose Park, Cicero and Hodgkins.
