Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local News

Members of the Chicago Police Department will coach youth as they face-off in a friendly AllStar baseball game to wrap up the summer and the 2018 Get IN Chicago Police/Youth Baseball Leagues on Saturday, Aug. 4th at the University of Illinois at Chicago Curtis Granderson Stadium , 901 W. Roosevelt Road. The festivities will begin at 3 p.m. CST. Throughout the summer, kids age 9-12 from the Austin, Englewood, and North Lawndale neighborhoods participated in the The Police/Youth Baseball Leagues, offered at no cost, which is a unique program that blends summer fun with instilling trust between youth and law enforcement, a purpose larger than a game of baseball overall. The program runs in collaboration with Westside Health Authority, Teamwork Englewood, BBF Family Services, the Chicago Police Department, and the Chicago Park District.
