Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donor Network and Norwegian American Hospital unveiled and dedicated a new mural that honors the gift of organ and tissue donation on November 14th. Local Humboldt Park artist, John Vergara, was commissioned to transform a blank exterior brick wall at Norwegian American Hospital into a beautiful work of art titled “Give Hope – Give Life.” In Illinois, more than 4,200 individuals are waiting for lifesaving organ transplants that could save their lives. Thousands more may benefit from donated tissue. The purpose of this mural is to honor the legacy of those who gave the gift of hope through organ and tissue donation and to inspire the local community to join the organ and tissue donor registry. The mural is located at Norwegian American Hospital on the corner of W. Thomas St., and Richmond St.
