Eight Triton Wrestlers Qualify for National Tournament

The Triton College wrestling team had a terrific showing at the NJCAA North Central District Tournament held February 17th in Muskegon, Mich. The Trojans qualified eight wrestlers for the NJCAA National Tournament to take place in Council Bluffs, Iowa, March 1-2. Triton had three champions and finished third as a team in the district with 105.5 total points. Sophomore Chris Colvin will make a return trip to nationals after an outstanding showing to win the district crown at 285 pounds. The Riverside-Brookfield graduate was named tournament MVP. Colvin won both of his matches by pin, first defeating Sergio Sosa of Harper College at 4:40 into the match. Then, in the finals he defeated Jackson Schenck of St. Clair Community College at 3:25 to improve his mark to 31-13 this season.
