The American Red Cross of Chicago & Northern Illinois is kicking off the second year of the ‘Sound the Alarm. Save a Life’ campaign with home fire safety and smoke alarm installation events across Chicago and northern Illinois this spring. Volunteers and partners will visit homes and install over 2,000 free smoke alarms as part of a national goal of 100,000. The home fire safety and smoke alarm installation events below are part of a push of Sound the Alarm events in 100 cities with a high risk of home fires—which kill more people in a typical year in the U.S than all other natural disasters combined. Smoke alarms help saves lives as most deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms.
