The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago will offer Chicago families the opportunity to join a workshop for parents to explore digital safety and address concerns surrounding how to raise children in a connected world. Google’s Be Internet Awesome workshops will be offered on Saturday, April 27 at 18 YMCA locations across the Chicagoland area as part of the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day. Healthy Kids Day is a national initiative of the YMCA designed to promote active minds and healthy bodies for children and families. Families will learn to teach their children how to communicate responsibly, understand real from fake in the face of phishing and scams, build strong passwords, be positive and kind online, talk about questionable content with their family, and why building healthy tech habits is important. Programs at the Rauner Family and McCormick YMCAs will be offered in Spanish and English. All facilities will have Spanish and English materials. The Irving Park YMCA will offer a Spanish translator. Childcare will be available at each site during the session. Parents can head over to www.ymcachicago.org to register and to view the complete list of locations. The workshops are free and open to the public.
