Frigid temperatures didn’t deter the more than 2,000 activists who gathered at Chicago’s Federal Plaza Tuesday night. They joined one of the nation’s largest rallies help under the “Nobody is Above the Law” banner, one of 600+ similar actions in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. calling for President Donald Trump to be impeached and removed from office. Speakers at the event included Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson, former federal prosecutor and CNN Legal Analyst Renato Mariotti, and Indivisible Chicago Executive Director Darcey Regan, who closed with a call to action for attendees to join Indivisible’s Three States, One Mission, 2020 campaign dedicated to turning the Midwest blue by supporting progressive campaigns in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.  To open the speaker program, Chicago blues artist Melody Angel performed her song “Rebel.” Local rally partners include: Chicago Women Take Action; Chicago NOW; Blue Beginning; Friends Who March; Schools Say Enough; Indivisible Western Front; Ottawa Indivisible; Greenly LaSalle Indivisible; Indivisible Western Springs; Indivisible IL; Indivisible Oak Park; and Illinois Handmaids.
