Responding to the disproportionate number of COVID-19 infections and related deaths in underserved communities with high minority populations, the Governor’s office, Norwegian American Hospital (Norwegian), Rincon Family Services (Rincon) and the Vida/SIDA program from the Puerto Rican Cultural Center (PRCC), have partnered to provide new screening effective this week for residents of Humboldt Park with COVID-19 symptoms. Testing is by appointment only and available patients ages 18 and older. Rincon Family Services and White Glove White Glove Sanitation presented Norwegian American Hospital with a large donation of hand sanitizer and sanitizing cleansing solutions. Complimentary bottles of hand sanitizers will be distributed to the community members during the press conference. To limit face-to-face appointments and to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Norwegian has expanded operations through additional telephone and telehealth support services.
