A male accused of trying to rob a local business in the Village of Justice for the second time in five days was shot by a civilian with a conceal-carry license in front of Larry’s Ideal Auto in Bridgeview on Tuesday night around 6:15 pm. The injured suspect, who was taken to Christ Hospital for treatment, was believed to be involved in a robbery that took place in the Village of Justice on Friday near 82nd and Roberts Road, and again at the same store on Tuesday when he was chased by a witness. The suspect, who was armed, had fled Justice after the attempted robbery and was shot crossing into Bridgeview. Police said the robbery of the business in Justice had been spoiled by a store clerk.

The clerk, according to Bridgeview Police, had called his brother following the attempted robbery on Tuesday night around 6:15p.m., who happened to be driving with friends near the store on Roberts Road. The brothers then chased down the suspect and engaged in a brief fire fight. The suspect was shot in the back and is reported in “good condition.” Bridgeview Police Chief Ricardo Mancha said that the weapons were recovered from the suspect and the citizens. Mancha said that Bridgeview is handling the shootings, while the Village of Justice Police are investigating the two robberies and charging the offender who name has not yet been released.
