The Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) will host Pivoting for Progress on Thursday, September 17 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The virtual event is the WBDC’s annual signature Midwest conference and a longstanding WBDC tradition that has featured in prior years prominent guests such as Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot as well as former talk show host and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey. The event kicks off with a keynote address featuring Cheryl Mayberry McKissack, a heralded entrepreneur, business leader, corporate board member, speaker, author, and educator. The keynote address will be followed by two panel discussions on how both large corporations and small businesses are having to pivot to cope with the pandemic and civil unrest. The event will close with a business matchmaker session where WBENC-certified Women Business Enterprises individually pitch for contracting opportunities to corporate and public sector representatives.
