ABC 7’s Windy City LIVE features Latina breast cancer survivors knitting ‘knockers’ in the Pilsen neighborhood!  What are Knitted Knockers?  They are light, soft, handmade breast prosthetics that offer comfort and support to women who have had mastectomies.  Knitted knockers come in all colors and cups sizes and are free to anyone who needs them!  This group of women from the Resurrection Project’s Ellas share their personal experiences coping with breast cancer and talk about (partly in Spanish) how their faith in God and knitting something for others, brought joy, hope and a bond of friendship. As one of the women, Denia Perello, a three-time cancer survivor said, “knitted Knockers is blessing from God.”  Juanita Arroyo confides about how her fear of cancer subsided once she joined Ellas and volunteered to help the women who knit these prosthetics. Watch this touching story on Windy City LIVE, with hosts Val Warner and Ryan Chiaverini, Tuesday, October 6 at 1 PM on ABC 7.
