Lawndale News Chicago's Bilingual Newspaper - Local NewsSpanish Coalition for Housing will celebrate its 5th Annual fundraiser, Making Dreams Come True differently this year, as the race will now go virtual. On Sunday, Nov. 8th, the Spanish Coalition for Housing will host their virtual race, running for affordable and sustainable housing for all. Runners are invited to partake in whatever way feels comfortable and safe, in your neighborhood, local park, backyard, or even at home. “Since the start of the pandemic (March 2020) SCH continues to serve hundreds of households monthly through our tele-housing counseling and limited in person appointments (adhering to public health guidelines) across Chicago to stabilize housing for more than 320 families with over $650,000 in direct assistance to help pay mortgage or rent (through our Emergency Rental and Mortgage Assistance Program) in addition to supporting over 600 additional households on their path to affordable and sustainable homeownership. Now more than ever, stable and affordable housing and homeownership is paramount in our communities and is a critical element to household and community health, wealth building and stability. This event allows communities to come together to support affordable and sustainable housing for everyone across Chicago, so let’s virtually run or walk together.” – shared SCH Executive Director, Joseph Lopez.
