On Monday, U.S. Representative Marie Newman (IL-03) was sworn into the 117th Congress, proudly representing Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District, which covers the Southwest Side of Chicago as well as its surrounding suburbs. A lifelong advocate for strengthening transportation and infrastructure, protecting unions, growing small businesses, protecting health care rights and building a greener economy, Congresswoman Newman made history today by becoming the first woman to represent Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Congresswoman Newman will serve on the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure, Congressional Labor Caucus, House Democratic Manufacturing Working Group and Democratic Women’s Caucus.
