Discover Symphony, the next generation of the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra, champions community and accessibility through the enriching, transformative nature of live classical music and the orchestral experience. This year marks the 24th year offering a scholarship to area high school senior instrumentalists committed to the role of music in the community and continuing musical studies at the college level. The $1,000 scholarship this year is again generously underwritten by the J. Mark Waltz Memorial Scholarship Fund. Scholarship recipients are not required to be a college Music major but must continue the study of music at the college level. Area graduating high school senior instrumentalists should submit the required application, essay and recommendation letter, available at https://www.discoversymphony.org/ by February 28, 2021, to info@discoversymphony.org. Auditions will be conducted March 9, 2021 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. Location information will be provided with the applicant’s audition time. Inquiries regarding the scholarship and the process can be directed to the Director of Development, Pamela Benitez, at info@discoversymphony.org or 847.692.7726.
