As life returns to normal for many, millions of American families and individuals continue to experience daily challenges that threaten their wellbeing. The back-to-school season can place a tremendous burden on families experiencing lost wages and looming evictions, as they are forced to choose between putting food on the table or making sure their kids have the tools needed for educational success. To meet the need, The Salvation Army is working with Walmart to collect school supplies during the annual Stuff the Bus event from Friday, Aug. 6 to Sunday, Aug. 8. Shoppers will receive a list, and can purchase and drop off items at collection bins at the front of most Walmart stores throughout the greater Chicagoland area. They can also search their local Salvation Army’s online Registry for Good at www.salarmychicago.org/stuffthebus to donate supplies online right now with just a few quick clicks. Families in need can access school supplies at their local Salvation Army corps. They can locate the Salvation Army closest to where they live by calling 773.725.1100 or visiting www.salarmychicago.org/locations.
