Grow with Google and U.S. Small Business Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman announced Google will give every U.S. business up to 500 Google Career Certificate scholarships to help upskill their employees through any of Google’s Career Certificates, a commitment worth up to $100,000 in workforce training for every American company. Google is also launching a new Career Certificate in Digital Marketing and E-commerce to help jobseekers and companies acquire skills to succeed in online business. Launched in 2018, Google Career Certificates are available in the high-growth fields of data analytics, IT support, project management, user experience (UX) design and now e-commerce and digital marketing. The certificates do not require a degree or experience and can be completed within 3-6 months of part-time study.

Three out of four U.S. small-and-medium sized businesses—including the majority of Black and Latino businesses—report that using digital tools during the pandemic created new business opportunities. While most business leaders project digital commerce will be the main source of business growth over the next two years, nearly half of small businesses still lack the skills needed to use digital tools. Endorsed by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4A’s), the Google Digital Marketing and E-commerce Certificate was designed by experts at Google with input from leading e-commerce companies.
