The Opera Festival of Chicago will present its second season from July 8 to July 24, 2022. The three-week festival will feature fully staged productions of Gioachino Rossini’s “L’inganno felice” and Giuseppe Verdi’s “Il Corsaro”, as well as a recital honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary soprano Renata Tebaldi, Tebaldi@100. The Festival opens with “L’inganno felice” (The Fortunate Deception), on Friday, July 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 10 at 2 p.m. at the Athenaeum Center located at 2936 N. Southport Avenue in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. Rossini’s one-act opera was an instant success after its premiere in 1812, creating a worldwide sensation thanks to the beauty of its music from overture to finale. Closing the Festival is “Il Corsaro” (The Pirate), performed on Friday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 24 at 2 p.m. at Cahn Auditorium located on the campus of Northwestern University at 600 Emerson Street in Evanston, IL.
