Friend Family Health Center (Friend Health) announced the grand opening on July 8th of a new Health Center in the Woodlawn neighborhood, located in the 20th Ward on Chicago’s South Side, which will serve 35,000 patients annually and create 250 new jobs. The July 8 grand opening event of the facility, which will provide the Woodlawn community with critical physical, behavioral and dental health services, included a ribbon cutting ceremony and featured remarks from Friend Health leadership, Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and community partners; tours of the facility; and coffee and refreshments provided by Southside Grinds, a local, Black- and woman-owned coffee business based out of Bronzeville. Located at 63rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue, the approximately $43 million, two-phased medical campus, is located within a Medically Underserved Area as defined by Health Resources and Services Administration. The new medical campus will bring vital healthcare services to the community including pediatric care, adult medicine, women’s health, dental care, behavioral health and immediate care.
