Valparaiso University President José D. Padilla, J.D. recently announced that a select group of Ivy Tech Community College scholars who graduate with an associate’s degree from the Ivy Tech campuses in Lake County and Valparaiso will be guaranteed admission to Valparaiso University, and their tuition and fees will be paid as they complete a bachelor’s degree. Padilla made the announcement at Ivy Tech Community College annual Chancellors’ Scholarship event on October 6th when he informed the 20 Northwest Indiana Chancellors’ Scholarship recipients that they would be guaranteed admission and receive substantial financial support to attend Valpo once they completed their associate degrees at Ivy Tech. Upon graduation with an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College of Lake County or Valparaiso campuses, the 20 recipients of the 2022 Chancellor’s Scholarship will be guaranteed admission into Valparaiso University within two years of degree completion. These students will also receive the new Ivy Beacon Scholarship award, which when combined with merit scholarships and gift aid through FAFSA, will cover their tuition and fees. Valparaiso University and Ivy Tech Community College of Valparaiso and Lake County are currently working on formalizing this agreement for future scholarship recipients.
